After shocking the US strategic forces with hypersonic missiles, China has now moved one step further toward a military offensive against the United States.

The latest satellite images suggest that China is making mockups for the US naval aircraft in the region, specifically defined for missile shooting practices.

This way, China is mimicking the actual war scenario depicting its will to come face to face with the US in the near future.

China Mocking Up US Targets to do Shooting Practices: Another Step Closer to War

Militaries all across the world practice on the mockup targets of their worst adversaries just to come up with a real-time war practice.

Where to aim the missile in a head-to-head encounter is being decided in these military drills where the time available for the decision-making is in milliseconds.

The satellite images from the Chinese Xinjiang region show that this time US navy aircraft, along with other warships, are the target of the Chinese forces as mockups are created for these facilities.

Seeing this event in isolation is not an option anymore. The hypersonic missiles were unveiled just recently, which indicated that China was already posing a danger to the US.

The latest Pentagon reports also suggest that the People Liberation Army Rocket Force, or as it is popularly known as PLARF, conducted more than 250 missile tests in 2020, which is greater than the rest of the world combined.

Not only this, but China’s ambitions to increase its naval traffic in the South China Sea are also evident by the increasing naval carriers’ presence in the region.

All of these developments have become significant, with China aiming to capture Taiwan. President Joe Biden has already indicated that the US will intervene militarily in case of a possible Chinese invasion into mainland Taiwan. Amid all of this, Chinese real-time war practices give a very real threat to the US.

Creating Deterrence Through Counter-Offensive: Not a Choice but a Necessity for the US

Deterrence is the key in these scenarios to counter China at the earliest possible moment. The US must replicate every move of China in order to regain the lost balance of power.

Should China try to build hypersonic missiles, the US must follow suit. Should China try to mock up the US military arsenal, the United States needs to embrace the same strategy.

Answering through AUKUS is also one of the options left with the US right now. As this alliance is specifically made to counter China, the sooner it comes into action, the better it is for global stability.

The US can also try to initiate nuclear talks with China to maintain the nuclear arsenals at the lowest possible level.

The efficacy of the nuclear non-proliferation regimes has been proven healthy with Russia when the US tried to contain the expansion of communism in the cold war.

Both countries have successfully managed to curb the nuclear warheads on the basis of mutual interest and for the greater good of the world in general.

The same should be the case with China as well. The downside of the US and Russia agreements is that China remained unattended with these regimes, which allowed the communist country to expand its nuclear program.

As per the latest reports, China’s nuclear warheads will rise to 1,000 by the end of 2030, which portrays a strong picture of the looming nuclear crisis in the world.

Final Thoughts

The US can rely on Artificial Intelligence and predictive models if it wants to take the lead against China. Modernizing the deterrence capabilities is one of the ways America can alert China against its will of threatening the globe.

The world needs to act collectively if it wants to stop this proliferation. Otherwise, China will continue taking small steps to unleash a bigger inevitable threat.
